My name is Gaby.
Living in a moment of empire not unlike the time of Jesus, I follow His example and understand my vocation as the empowerment of young women.
I graduated with honors from Loyola Marymount University with my B.A. in Theological Studies in 2021, and in 2024 with my Master of Divinity from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. I have worked for Catholic organizations in a variety of capacities, including for America Magazine, Emory’s Aquinas Center, and the Holy See’s diplomatic office in Vienna, Austria. I am currently the youth minister at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur, GA, and my vocation manifests as my specific interest in working with teenage girls.
The Blog
The name of this blog is a reference to several things: my lens as a lifelong student of feminist theology (hermeneutics being the field dedicated to biblical interpretation), the Chicks’ feminist anthem “For Her,” and the name of the girls’ bible study I run at my church, “HERmeneutics".”
